Two-factor authentication (also known as 2FA) is an authentication method confirming a user's claimed identity upon login. As the name implies, 2FA uses a combination of two factors:
- Something the user knows; and
- Something the user has.
The Plasma Cloud console allows you to enable 2FA for your user account to provide enhanced security. You can configure 2FA to use the following factors:
- The user chosen password; and
- A time-based one-time password (TOTP) generated by Google Authenticator or FreeOTP. If you are already using another App supporting TOTP, feel free to keep using that one.
To enable two-factor authentication on your account, you need to:
- Log into the Plasma Cloud console;
- Click on your username at the top right of the console and select Account Settings;
- Navigate to Authenticator in the main menu on the left; and
- Follow the instructions shown.
From this point onward, you have to go through 2FA every time you log into the Plasma Cloud console. Upon login, you will firstly be asked to enter your username and password, and then the one-time code. To obtain it, simply open the App you installed to generate your first one-time password and select the related 'Plasma Cloud' entry on it. The six digits code to be used to log into the console will appear on the screen.
If you wish to stop using 2FA, follow step 1-3 and click on the bin icon in the table.

Warning: You must be logged into the Plasma Cloud console to be able to disable 2FA. Do not delete the Plasma Cloud entry in your TOTP App before disabling 2FA in your Account Settings.
